He will expand upon the concept of going to the edge, and excelling within your field and diverse interests. He will explore how diversion and risk stimulate the creative senses, and add a variety of arrows to your quivers. Compete with yourself, don’t waste time competing with others. Arizona Department of Housing – 2011 Arizona Housing Forum

Barry will be giving a presentation at the Arizona Housing Forum, where he will be discussing development opportunities in a changing world. The following is a summary of Barry’s presentation topics:

Through creative planning and development, neighborhood and urban lands in transition present opportunities that address changing demographics.

The advent of transportation corridors that link communities by light rail or soft wheel systems will encourage the creation of new forms of commerce, education, and living nodes for an emerging diverse population.

Today’s society is searching for answers that will lead to job creation and the learning of new applications of technology and commerce. New town centers containing vocational components, cultural destinations, new forms of commerce and living patterns, will create opportunities igniting new interest in the benefits derived in living, learning and working in places designed to enhance lives and give back lost time.

 

AIA New Mexico Convention

Barry will be giving a presentation at the AIA New Mexico Convention, and will address the following topics:

How can we, as architects, lead the way to kick start a new economy in cities across the US by creating new platforms of architecture which honors diversity, new educational forms, new applications of commerce, and sustainability? What form will the sustainable neighborhood of the future take? Is multigenerational housing going to be the core of suburbia? What does sustainability begin with: natural resources or human resources? How can an architect become a leader in the community, utilizing their creativity to build a stronger social and physical environment?
